Born in Shiga Pref., Japan in 1969. 1987-1991 [undergraduate] Faculty of Agriculture, Hokkaido University, Sapporo. 1991-1993 [Master]: Hokkaido University 1993- 2022: Osaka Museum of Natural History, Osaka. 2022- present: a freelancer as a representative of "SOKEISHA" and a visitor scietist at Osaka Museum of Natural History.

Research theme:

(1) fossil insects, mainly from Quaternary Period, including archaeological sites

(2) beetle fauna in Shiga Prefecture, mainly along the shores of Lake Biwa

(3) cicadas (distribution and biology)

(4) other studies on natural history (ladybeetles, adelges, invasive insects etc.)

(5) studies on cultural history, mainly on origins of place and personal family names
